Stinky Toilets
I'm not using 'stinky' in the literal sense here but rather metaphorically. Chinatown Point's toilets stink. Really.

None of the shops have toilets in them. I'm not just referring to those pithy little stores hawking wares. I'm also referring to restaurants and eating places, which obviously should have toilets in them for their patrons to use. No, instead they force you to get of that nice abode and head to some desolate corner of the mall to answer the call of nature.

And the best part is that they charge you for using the toilet. That's not the best part yet. They actually charge you 20 cents, not 10, which is the standard amount! Before you gasp in shock and horror, let me tell you proudly that I refused to conform to the rules and promptly went off to find another toilet. There was nobody collecting money at this toilet so I gratefully went in.

Haha. Just goes to show that you can beat the system, for there's no way that all 8 or 10 toilets in the mall will have attendants there. Anyway, there isn't a rationale for having attendants collect money from patrons for using the toilet. Firstly, the management will have to employ people to collect money. This means that they'll have to pay them. That's not all, you must also remember that the total revenue collected is less than the variable costs (wages of the attendants) so basically the management is making a loss. Secondly, by ensuring that patrons pay a token fee to enter the toilet, they are putting the patrons off.

In case you are wondering what this nonsensical and rubbishy post full of crap (pun intended) is about, the point I'm trying to make is don't go to Chinatown Point or more specifically, don't go to Chinatown Point's toilets.

Reminiscence
The holidays have rolled around again. As Mervin has said in his earlier post, time sure seems to fly when you're having fun. Strangely enough, the adrenaline rush hasn't hit me yet. Rather, my mood seems to have become more sombre...

I was reading Miki's post about 2G 2003 and a realization that 17 years of my life had already flown past. It seems like yesterday when I attended kindergarten at YWCA at Outram Road, did addition and subtraction questions by the dozen on computer paper and craved for the Channel 8 drama serials shown at 2:30 pm every weekday. More than a decade ago, the only thing on my mind was how to construct imaginary roads and tracks for my toy cars to rove.

Primary school came knocking on my door. I remember the anticipation, the excitement, the joy of wearing my school uniform and looking foward to attending school. Unknown to many, I spent my first year in Zhangde Primary School and then transferred to Henry Park in Primary 2.

Those were the days, when I topped tests with ease. I remember I got 100 for English, Chinese and Maths and narrowly missed the quartet for Science in Primary 3. Yah, those were the days. More memorable though were my Primary 5 and 6 days. I remember GET WET, which consisted of Weng Woh, Jeremy Ng, Wing Chung, Ryan and myself. I remember how I played Pepsi Cola in the hall with my classmates despite firm disapproval from Ms Tan Lian Eng. I remember how we used to have crushes on our classmates and told each other in a hush-hush manner, and the sheer exhilaration when it turned out the other party also felt the same way. I remember how I screwed up my Maths Prelims so badly and yet felt strangely at ease. I remember how we all used to say that we couldn't wait to get out of Henry Park because that was the cool thing to say and I guess back then we all wanted to be cool. I remember Graduation High Tea in Goodwood Park Hotel, which I attended in a T-shirt, denim bermudas and sandals and thought I was appropriately dressed. I remember WOW, the code-name for the stayover at Jeremy's house after PSLE, which we looked foward to with great anticipation.

I remember Henry Park Primary School.

End Of Sem 1
3 words...Overwhelmed & Overwhelmed & Overwhelmed! [sorry for the lack of vocab; brain dead after GP common test]

Yups....it's the end of 1st 5 mths at RJ...N reflecting upon the past 5 months. it's really overwhelming. A lot of things have changed. Things that used to matter now dont and things that didnt matter now matters. e.g. valentine's day...i mean who celebrates valentine's day at RI...but here it's a day for celebrating frenship...quite meaningful i suppose....Hell lot of new frens made and i am quite sure i havent gotten down all their numbers even after 6 months. :X

Back in RI, used to be wat pple call a mugger...Study....CO pract....Home....sleep....but results still not fantastic...Hais...world so unfair la....

Now...i dunno....but became more interested and active in some stuff....Wasnt really adapting well at 1st....super tired...but later looking at pple ard me....especially the guys....even more tired than me....coz they taking part in much more stuff than me probably...then i think realization set in that we cannot take part in everything that's fun n nice...so gave up some lor....Studies still more impt mah...Hais....stil cant shake off mugger mindset...haha

Still tries very hard to keep in contact with old frens like Ming sing suang yiliang Phang....that's why this blog came about la...All different classes now...But still tries to have outings whenever possible la...even if it means ponning class outings...[oops sry 3j]...i think we are juz a bunch of pple that treasure old friendship alot alot...

Overall...Nice 2 terms at RJ and time realli flies....a quarter of JC life had already passed...N b4 we noe it....it's grad...

Shifting Gears
RP double bill...Shifting Gears....

After i walked out of the PAC i muz say my mind was full of thoughts....of the two plays....Especially liked Where? by Mr. Vadi...[i.e. Phang's CT] Was a play full of meaning...especially liked the concept of the characters driving on the road...and pondering about their own lives..."Where your lives are going wld depend on where u choose to go; u make the choice on which road to choose" i think that's the main theme that the play is trying to bring out...N i must say he succeeded in bringing this theme up...well i shant say too much since there's gonna be others watching it tonight...

2nd play Shifting was about 3 families literally shifting/moving house...some parts of the plot was rather predictable...the jokes were rather funny but some were pure slapstick...but it got abit too draggy at times i thought...but nice play too...the characters were so unique and humurous that i still rmb some of their actions and jokes haha...but irony or rather concept of "only shifting physically but everything else will remain the same unless the mindset changes" wasnt brought out strongly i suppose

Enjoyed both plays...2nd play cld've been better so if i were to pick the better 1 out of the 2...definitely it wld be Where?
Yups...Congrats to RP!

Rants and Ravings
I don't usually do this but at the moment I'm suffering from a lack of inspiration so I've decided to adopt Mervin's style of recounting his days' events. Argh.

Monday
I was ranting and raving about how Liverpool snatched the FA Cup right out of West Ham's hands and how the Hammers kena hammered (pardon the pun). Gerrard's first goal was brilliant and his second was simply spectacular, the way he blasted the ball into the bottom corner of the net past Shaka Hislop's despairing dive. Unfortunately, Marcus was feeling malignant and denied me the chance to watch Liverpool's trophy presentation by swiching off the TV.

Tuesday
Chemistry lab was totally rubbish. Despite my valiant attempt at studying for the tutorial test the night before, I totally got decimated by that one-sided sheet of paper with plenty of alphabets in block letters written all over it. Argh.

Thursday
Ming Sing was giving me many reasons (actually there was only one main reason) on why I should stop cursing and swearing at the slightest provocation. Although he had raised this issue many times before, I never found it pertinent until yesterday, when his persuasion swayed me over, and I resolved to eliminate this rude and tactless habit once and for all. (By the way please watch what you say to others from now on Ming Sing. Haha)

I went to play football with Marvin and company after that and basically screwed up in front of goal. Feeling lazy, I decided to play left-back, occasionally making a few forays down the left flank in a bid to add to my grand tally of 1 goal in 8 games. I was doing fine at the backline and in the middle of the park but somehow when I reached within 15m of the goal all composure left me like a gust of wind, leaving me stranded in an abyss of defenders from which I could not free myself. Anyway, the bottom line was that I didn't score. Argh.

Friday
I realised that it was much harder than I imagined to stop swearing for good. I was feeling uneasy and restrained the whole day and had to watch my mouth very closely for fear that some obscene phrase would slip out. Thus, I didn't talk much today since I figured that the less I talked, the lower the percentage of breaking my promise to Ming Sing ( ={ ). Weaning myself of unnecessary rude comments is definitely some big trial and tribulation but I sure hope that the end-result will be worth it. Yah, since all of you now know about my new resolution, I will certainly appreciate it if you (Kun Da, Ming Sing, Linus etc) stop trying to irritate me and make me curse. Argh.

Math Remedial
Today is Ming sing's birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Had math remedial today at 2....Was thinking whether or not to go coz i hav band at 2.30....But after much delibration i decided to go for the remedial....after all i din do well for the test....N i must say i didnt regret attending the remedial one bit....

3 hrs!! Juz 3 HRS and i think i understood MUCH MUCH MUCH more about integration and differentiation and inequalities than all the long, gruelling hrs spent/wasted in LT2...I think lectures are juz so not productive especially for MATH...1/2 the time stoning the other 1/2 sleeping....Even Mr. Su Chang agrees with me la....But he said no choice just have to adapt lor...Guess so....But su chang's really funny...N interesting...Hais...so sad he's only taking us for a term...

Our class really changing a hell lot of teachers...Ms Tan Zhi An is leaving soon for her overseas studies...Su Chang...This morning Ngan mentioned that he might be giving up one of his bio classes....Not confirmed but he sounded like it's gonna be our class...Hais...despite his weirdness...he's still a good teacher...sad sad sad...

Just got the news that suang n ben goh got their humans scholarships....So CONGRATS to both of u too :D

Ming Sing's Birthday Outing
Well today is Vesak Day. N I am supposed to be Buddist...according to my parents. But places i went have no connection whatsoever to Buddism. Went out with Mingsing suang phang yiding and heexun. Well everyone was more or less at Dhoby Ghaut by 1045 coz we KBOXing at Paradiz Centre which is quite a distance from MRT station. However, we had ONE missing link, or rather, missing person...no prize for guessing who's LATE...PHANG! Arrived only at around 1115 la...Superstar heh?

Yups...Coz it's ming sing's birthday tmr....Me n Phang dedicated 祝我生日快乐 (i.e. wishing myself happy birthday) to him right at the start. Haha it's a sad song but it's alright...it's the symbolism that counts right ming sing? KBOX was quite high...sang alot of nice songs n some crappy ones too....i still cant hit some of the high notes...N Phang's singing....although improved...stil quite...erms....

Took pics of Phang n birthday boy ming sing during KBOX but he din allow me to post them...Well...so i removed them :S...those who want to see phang grinning like nobody's business in the pic look for me....

Proceeded to pool....Where we split into 2 tables...Suang Phang n me in one...Ming sing thomas n yiding on the other....so it's 2 vs 1 for each table rotating the teams every round....1st round was won by Suang n Phang....2nd was me n Suang....3rd was me n Phang....Well suang being a 1st-timer cant really survive on his own....in the end....scoreline was 6-0....when we started with 7 balls each. Memorable win i guess....So another PIC....all 6 balls left are solid....:P

Phang taking out his specs to look better specially for this shot :P

Suang trying his best to prevent a total thrashing by me n Phang...

Last round was a repeat team combi of Me VS suang n Phang....well...they were leading 4-1 at one point of the game....but their last ball cant seem to get in...So i proded-ly overtook them n was left with the black ball to deal with....But alas the ultimate black ball eluded me....n i still lost in the end....Disappointing....close but after all it's juz a game :)

Me yet getting another ball in YAY!

430 in the afternoon....N we had nothing else to do.....Went back to Plaza Sing. and decided that we wanted to do some National Service (i.e. Boosting singapore's economy by SHOPPING) since Phang wanted to buy a PINK shirt while Suang wanted a new bag....combed the whole Plaza Sing to no avail....Den took bus to Orchard in hope of getting what they want....FAT hope....stil no pink shirt n no bag that Suang took a liking to. Hais....so phang sorta changed target to buying shoes...but is faced with a new problem....Lack of the polymer notes with Yusof Ishak's face imprinted on them....Hais...so in the end din get to do National Service....But still had a nice dinner at Pastamania and ended our day with a talk cock session throughout the MRT ride.

Last but not least HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MING SING....

Support Short Skirts Society
Yesterday's attire check was the third time for my class this year. As usual, the girls were frantically removing their shirt-strings, safety-pins and whatnots and desperately unfolding their skirts. Despite their valiant attempts, 3 of them were presented with white slips for short skirts. (skirt higher than the knee level) What's the world coming to these days when even wearing shorter skirts is a punishable offence?

There are many advantages of sporting less green cloth for the girls, in fact so many that it seems downright ridiculous not to impose a new rule which dictates that the minimum length of a skirt be 4 fingers above the knee.

If the skirts are shorter, less cloth will be used. This means that the costs of production of the suppliers decrease due to less material being used per skirt. As all suppliers aim to maximise profits, this decrease in the cost of production will give them an added incentive to supply more skirts at the given price. Anyway, it must also be noted that most girls alter their skirt anyway and the extra cloth goes to waste, so why not save the cloth and make the original skirt length shorter?

As the saying goes, 'if you have it, flaunt it'. Although most of the girls obviously do not 'have it', they still like to 'flaunt it' and with Singapore being the democratic nation that we all know, who are we to restrict the girls' choice of skirt length?

Shorter skirts will mean more surface area of the legs are exposed to the external environment. This means that the girls wil not feel so hot and humid as more wind can come into contact with their legs and draft away the warm air surrounding them.

Of course, there is always the possibility that the school will still not come to terms with these obvious benefits that can be derived from allowing girls to wear shorter skirts. Thus, I have also come up with a few viable alternatives.

The school should allow girls to wear their FBT shorts around the whole day. In fact, FBT shorts are so short that they make the 3 advantages mentioned above seem even more advantageous than ever. Hell, I think the school should just make FBT shorts the official school bottom for females since they allow for less cloth to be used, more leg to flaunt and a larger surface area to be cooled. I'm sure the girls, boys and even some academic instructers such as Pervicheeko wouldn't mind.

The other alternative, as suggested by Jie Liang, would be to make the girls wear green pants. This way, no matter how the girls alter their trousers, there is absolutely going to no way the bottom half of their attire will even touch their calves.

After this mentally stimulating post, I'm sure all of you now agree with me that short skirts will be better for all. I shall sign off with a conversation overheard during Civics today:

Mr Vadi : You don't come to school just to be interested in skirts.
Solomon/ Terence: Oh no, we're interested in what's inside them.

Stuff About 20 People
Name 20 people you can think of right now at the top of your head. Don't read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 20 people.

1. Mervin Ang (co-author of this blog)
2. Ming Sing
3. Long Kuan
4. Javine
5. Suang
6. Lim Min
7. Ann Tay
8. Linus (gave me the idea of koping this thing from Crunch)
9. Jeremy Lee
10. Benny
11. Daphne
12. Derrick
13. Leonard
14. Solomon
15. Crunch (koped this thing from her)
16. Zhao Ying
17. Daniel Lee
18. Deng Chao
19. Ye Jie
20. Mr Vadi

Here come the questions...

1. How did you meet 14?
He's my classmate.

2. What would you do if you've never met 1?
The question should be what would I not do if I've never met 1 and the answer would be that you wouldn't be sitting here reading this article because this blog would not have even existed.

3. What would you do if 20 and 9 dated?
Laugh my ass off, then remember that Mr Vadi's married and doesn't look like the type to have extra-marital affairs, especially not with his favourite Economics Rep.

4. Did you ever like 19?
I wasn't really close to him in Sec 1 and 2 but thanks to Ming Sing's re-introduction I guess we've become closer. Plus he's full of crap and I like people who are full of crap so there you are.

5. Would 6 and 17 make a good couple?
Unless Lim Min likes the idea of being colonized by the Paramount Leader (and I don't think she does), the answer is no.

6. Describe 3.
A nice guy who has an uncanny knack for falling asleep in classes. Oh, and he's all the girls' favourite marriage partner in 'Shoot Shag Marry'.

7. Do you think 8 is attractive?
I can't believe I put Linus as number 8, just like Crunch. I'm in no position to comment on his aesthetic appeal, you can ask the girls in my class for their opinions if you want and if you're feeling nasty, ask Crunch.

8. Tell me something about 7.
She's the bowling chairperson, the scribe in my PW group and loves to give me this wide-eyed look of astonishment/ shock/ disbelief which never fails to make me feel bad.

9. Do you know any of 12's family?
Nope.

10. What is 9's favourite?
Dabbling in political affairs, to put it in mild terms. Hahaha.

11. What would you do when 18 confesses that he/she likes you?
Say something that blogger doesn't allow me to type here.

12. What language(s) does 15 speak?
English, Tamil (I think) and the universal language of crap.

13. Who is 9 going out with?
Nobody at the moment, he's kind of tied up creating a masterplan for the reformation of Singapore.

14. How old is 16 now?
Since I don't know when is his birthday, I'm going to make a rough estimate. 17, give or take a year.

15. When was the last time you talked to 13?
Today.

16. What is 2's favourite band/singer?
Hmm, he likes a lot of Chinese singers but I think his favourite should be Kelly Poon.

17. Would you ever date 4?
That depends on whether she will even ask me out first. Those looking for a creative and out-of-the-box suicide method, ask her the converse of this question. Results assured.

18. Would you ever date 7?
Ya, I guess I might, despite the fact that she told me that she would rather shoot herself than marry me ( =( ) and especially if she agrees to do my PW part for me. See, who's being nice now, Ann Tay? Haha.

On a side note, it's Ming Sing's birthday on May 17, so if you see him, give him a friendly (doesn't mean cannot be hard and painful) slap on his back and wish him 'happy birthday!'

RJCO concert
Esplanade....

Yesterday night was the 1st time i went into the 1st storey audience seats of Esplanade haha....it's really a totally different esperience when we look at the performers from the 1st storey n 3rd storey...{where the cheapest tickets are...hais...no budget}....so usually only get to see the performers' hair and their head is like like the size of an ant....So ...very happy haha...sat with ming sing n suang....while phang happily declined to go n try "appreciate" music....

On the overall....it was quite a pro concert....the soloists are good...cello ensemble was nicely done i thought....but Shaun said they sounded better during rehearsals....the Encore i hav to say was the song i enjoyed the most...Turkish March....rocks....Den after the encore conductor Zhou....More popularly known as "Lao Zhou" started shaking alot the key performers hands....dunno for wat reason but it looks rather comical....

His method of conducting is as usual abit exaggerated....Suang commented that he looked like Batman in several instances while i thought he was either doing aerobic excercise or immitating Matrix Trinity's signature move....before she kicks the enemy....both hands raised to her side.....u all can imagine la....

But nice job done RJCO! :D SB concert coming soon...N i hope phang will come :) [u will right?]

Champions League Final 2006 Preview
The question now on everybody's lips is: who can succeed Liverpool's throne as the kings of Europe? If your choice is Barcelona, you are undoubtedly a football noob-let. If you fancy Arsenal, you must be seriously disillusioned. The answer is of course nobody. Which club can fill such big boots? The only way is to have custom-made boots and we all know what custom-made boots are like - chcek out what Rooney's new Total 90s did to him.

Anyway, let's not digress. Basically, I believe that Arsenal will win by a score of 1-0. Don't believe the facts? Read on.

1. Champions League qualification - By the time the game kicks off, Arsenal will already know whether it is Tottenham or themselves who have claimed the desired 4th spot in the EPL. Assuming that Spurs have beaten the Gunners to it, Arsenal will have to win the trophy in order to qualify for next season and this will give them extra drive. Besides, it would be unthinkable for them to move into their new Emirates stadium without a place in Europe's top tier competition. Barcelona, on the other hand, have already qualified for next season's edition.

2. Saving grace for Arsenal - Arsenal have no silverware this season, whereas Barcelona have already wrapped up the Spanish title with a few games to spare. Arsenal will defintely play their hearts in this match, especially since it will be a great tribute to Highbury, their home of 93 years.

3. Thierry Henry - Arsenal have the best foward in the world in their captain. His instinctive touch, sheer pace and moments of genius will definitely be more than difficult to deal with. Arsenal also know that if they lose this match, they will lose more than a trophy; they will probably lose Henry as well, since he will be convinced that Arsenal do not have what it takes to make the cut in Europe.

4. Arsenal are the underdogs - Barcelona have to live up with the expectation of being the 'greatest football club in the world' (apparently those nub-cakes at the Nou Camp haven't heard of a club called Liverpool yet) and will probably attack right from the start. Knowing Arsenal's erratic form, they will probably only hit top gear in the second half, not to mention catch Barcelona on the break. Masters of the counter-attack, Arsenal will probably tuck one away before defending like dogs but the point is that one goal is enough to settle a match.

Monsieur Wenger will be the one lifting the trophy come May 17 and north London will erupt with joy, just as Merseyside did last year (and probably will for the years to come).

Interview With The Paramount Leader
Today, I will introduce you to a powerhouse in the complex world of junior college politics. Affectionately known as the Paramount Leader by his allies, his mere presence commands respect from his underlings and strikes fear into the heart of his enemies. Fair and just, the Paramount Leader is known for his no-nonsense attitude, often believing that the best way to deal with traitors is immediate impalement. However, as Jose Mourinho once said, 'Envy is the gun of the weak', many incompetent fools have decided to pit themselves against him and due to such circumstances, he has been forced to retreat to the mountains where he is now currently planning how to physically right the wrongs done to him.

Over the course of this week, I managed to get an exclusive interview with him via email. Unfortunately, he only managed to answer 2 questions before enemy fire struck again and he was forced to flee. His answers were nevertheless well-constructed and comprehenesive and I am sure that they provide a meaningful insight into his life - the duty, power and troubles.

1. Please give us a detailed account of your days hiding in the mountains and the hardships and tribulations that you face.
I had reached that stage in the mountains when mi instinct alerted me that I might die. Sooner or later, I would die. The horror! I just hoped to hell that it would not be too painful. But I did not fear for one moment that I would snap. I just felt that I would be shot sooner or later. But to the extent of emotional snappage, no. I see Kundamenes (who had joined me on Mt. Kunda) getting killed all around, dae after dae, continuing on and on- without knowledge of when this might end. Is dis going to go on for eternal? Will I be able to return to Kundagrad again? For the Leader, there is the additional burden of constantly deciding on matters under fire, under the hellish conditions of insufficient sleep and food. Combat is a world of madness. Perfect strangers are going to great lengths to kill You; far from being punished for murder, if thae succeed, thae will be rewarded, honoured, celebrated. In combat on the mountain, I stae underground during the dae and fight at night. Good health is virtuallee extinct; trench feet, pneumonia, diarrhoea and minor wounds are constant companions. Even survival is a chore...

2. Being the Paramount Leader, one obviously has no doubts that as all great leaders do, you must have your critics. Kindly name a few of these treacherous foul fiends and the evil deeds which they have done, followed by your plans to deal with them.
Being the Paramount Leader that I am, I haf no doubts at all about the nature of power and how u maintain ur grip on it.There are two fools in current foreign exile that the KGB is unable to get its hands on. One of them, HOW BING HONG, delights in satire and insults of the Paramount Leader, Kunda Prime, the Paramount Leader, Kundaism and theParamount Leader again. His main act is to pose as a Kmacht conscript on innocent bystanders' tagboards, spouting a whole lot of shit until the real Conscript shows up and gifs him a run for his money. (That S.O.B frequents the alias of Phang and Conscript in an attempt to discredit us but what that cretin does not realize is that readers are intelligent enough to ascertain that a dark force was responsible for these misdemeanours.) Last but not least, is W.Y. Lim. The Paramount Leader has sworn to shoot him personally. Lim is the mastermind of countless anti-kunda plots and is alwaes game to participate or offer assistance to rebels and traitors. His motivation is unknown. However, the KGB would hardly care about his motivation once they catch him and throw his ass into tough jail for dissenters.

P.S Spelling errors in this article are due to the Paramount Leader
