Neo-print Noob
Some time back, I was reading an article in the Sunday Times about how teens these days spend their money on worthless stuff like neo-prints and was inwardly laughing at these penny-foolish, pound-foolish people.

Little was I to know that I was going to take a few for the first time in 17 years yesterday. Daphne and Ann Tay basically had this crazy notion that we (Linus and me) should go and take neo-prints since they were getting tired of me using their phones to snap narcissistic pictures of myself.

When we reached the neo-print shop though, Linus was adamant that real men do not take neo-prints and despite my valiant attempt to drag him into the shop, he remained rooted to the ground in defiance.

Thus, my unhelpful comrade of 4 years left me feeling scared as I, led by the more experienced girls, ventured into unchartered waters. The background music wasn't exactly a ear-friendly medley of bubble-gum pop but rather a badly concocted mix of sound. The gaudy lights were more an eyesore than the attention demanding devices they were supposed to be. Nevertheless, I remained brave and went into some small photo tent where my experience of a lifetime was about to begin.

To cut a long story short, Daphne and Ann Tay made full use of the 8 snapshots that were allocated to us, striking cute poses and grinning from ear-to-ear while I sat on the bench like a block of wood. What was best was that I actually thought the screen was the camera, so half the shots had me staring into blank space looking like a lost sheep while the two of them were bubbling with enthusiasm.

Anway, the photos didn't turn out that badly after all, except for some uncalled-for reminders by the 3 of them that I sort of looked like a girl in those shots, so I guess it was pretty fun. (I'm going to put those neo-prints in my file so all of you can admire them on Tuesday. Haha.)

Promotions
Ok....finally we have reached the best part of every week....its end.

Was reading phang's previous post....I suddenly realized how nice i am to the girls in my class...nvm....shant go into the details lest i embarrass phang...:P

i quite like the "ungentlemanly ah beng" name....fits him to the T....after all he had been the "neighbourhood ah beng" for so long....time to get promoted la....

Speaking of promotions....I have been promoted from no-rep to PW-rep...major reshffle in our class committee coz there happen to be 6 newly-elected councillors...

So we had elections....N somehow all the other posts....previously held-onto by councillors...were snapped up by the girls in our class...actually it's coz none of the guys volunteered la....except the male CT rep la...Den...we realized finally.
...
We need more guys in our class parliament....N guess wat's the only SMC left?? Bingo! it's PW [besides the BIO GRC that went uncontested...congrats to xuanhong...well i dun think anyone else wants to be ngan's rep la]....

Yups but i am proud to say that i won a landslide victory over the opposition party Garry Teo and became PW rep. {applause}

So on thursday we headed happily to our PW lessons...N denise proudly announced to Mdm lim her competent successor [i.e. ME]....N so i got my 1st assignment

Ungentlemanly Ah Beng
During GP today, I asked Michelle if she thought I was a jerk. Fortunately (for me and for her), she said no. Instead, she called me an ungentlemanly Ah Beng. After doing some self-reflection, I realised that she had indeed hit the nail on the head.

How many times have I irritated the fairer sex in class? How many times have I made their blood boil with my insensitive and often scathing comments? How many times have I made life difficult for them? Many times. In fact, so many times that some of them persuaded me to go for the "Aries and Aphrodite" Civics Elective Module, which sad to say, has yet to inculcate some useful values in me as of now.

I peppered my vocabulary with colourful language when talking to Lim Min, told Daphne to go on a diet, teased Javin about her uber-fitness, I made fun of Ann Tay's big Umbro backpack, threw insults at Cheryl by the dozen, blatantly rejected Candera's request for a Haribou sweet with a loud "No!", pissed Sherlyn and Ming Rue off so much they now ignore me and basically pissed off half the girls in class. In fact, according to Crunch's calculations, at the rate I am going, I will succeed in pissing off all the girls in class by June.

Today, the truth dawned on me. There was really nothing wrong with the girls at all. Lim Min has been exceptionally tolerant of my swearing, Daphne is not fat but actually blessed with ample mass that accounts for her hour-glass figure, Javin is just strong and healthy and will probably beat me hands down in terms of fitness, Ann Tay really looked darn cute and intellectual with her now-defunct Umbro bag, Cheryl has a friendly and forgiving disposition and is slightly amnesiac regarding rude comments, Candera just has a sweet tooth and cannot be faulted for that and Sherlyn and Ming Rue are really rational beings who can control their temperament really well when it comes to insensitive people like me.

I feel compelled to say sorry to all the girls in class, all 17 of you lovely beings who keep the male ego in check and restore sanity to an otherwise crazy bunch of savage boys.

I guess I really am an ungentlemanly Ah Beng after all.

But I like.

Miss Singapore Universe 2006
Well since Phang has created such an sensation with his entry bout Miss Singapore Universe 2006....I shall attempt to answer the very same qns....in the most humble way of course....

Alright....1st up....

1. How do you think Singaporeans can be encouraged to volunteer their time and effort instead of just donating their money?

Well...put it this way...donating money are for working adults....with too much cash to spare...sadistically looking at pple getting poked by needles during NKF shows....donating time and effort are obviously left to us students....desparately trying to clock up our CIP hrs....b4 they were scraped. Now name has been changed to Service Learning...apparently it's different from CIP....Face it: Singaporeans are too concerned bout making $$$ to volunteer their time and effort....Sad....but ya

2. Do you think Singaporeans can slow down to appreciate the music, and why?

YES!!! Of course...RJ BAND having annual concert in 1st wk of June. So pple like Phang obviously will come down to listen...slow down and appreciate the music! :D Why?? Coz Phang always comments that he's depressed despite having not much work hahas....Music will do him good :P {Btw....there is absolutely no need to learn instrument to appreciate music. SO moral of story: Come to band concert!!!}

3. What would you say to those who think that all it takes to win is just a pretty face?
I would say "Hey you are spot-on man!" Considering most of the answers given by the contestants are {thumbs down} Well....actually after much pondering...i realized that i am contradicting myself...the statement "all it takes to win is just a pretty face" is quite wrong...pretty face??

4. If you could choose any song to describe your personality, what song would it be and why?
再一次拥有 by 龚诗嘉 There are alot of things that i hope to recapture....Wldnt noe how to treasure something when u own it....Only noes how to after you have lost it..

5. Do you think beautiful women have an unfair advatantage in society today?

A slight one i suppose. Like...adapting from a certain Econs lecturer....a pretty cashier would most likely get a job at Subway in Suntec City while a not-so-pretty one would get a job at Subway in RJC. Image is important in this kind of professions la....Undeniable....
N bout beauty being subjective....havent we learnt bout Golden Ratio under the best philo teacher in RI?? Our form teacher somemore la...Hais...

6. What do you think of the claim that Singaporeans are much too afraid to lose?
Hais...wat do i think ar....nothing to think bout wat....2 words wld explain everything...."Kiasu singaporeans"

7. We've seen more women take over as CEOs and presidents of companies but is it still tougher for women than men to reach the top and why?
Havent we done enough bout gender n sexism in GP :S

8. How do you think this episode (NYP scandal) reflects on the moral and social values held by youths today?
{Looking at everyone with innocent eyes} What's the NYP scandal about?? Never heard of it leh.....right :P

9. If you were given a chance, what is the law you'd elect or amend in Singapore?
All of it...since Phang set them...Sure hav probs de...tsk tsk

10. What do you think Singapore can do to nurture more world-class athletes?
Haiyo...so simple....continue importing overseas fishes lor....Taste better mah

Ok...muz put disclaimer... The Above Mentioned is just for fun and entertainment...Does not represent my personal view. Yups...According to Phang, his nxt post wld be an Exclusive Interview with Paramount Leader of Kunda Prime, Mr. Kunda himself....so Look out for it {applause}

Miss Singapore Universe 2006
I'm back from my temporary hiatus and here to bring all of you more insightful comments, albeit on a different platform this time. I've shifted home base from http://realistic-madhatter.blogspot.com/ to this present blog, which is a culmination of Mervin's and my efforts.

Since Ming Sing has demanded a substanitial post in exchange for a link from his blog, I will adhere to his request and give my own take on the Question and Answer segment, which I believe was not properly dealt with by the contestants.

1. How do you think Singaporeans can be encouraged to volunteer their time and effort instead of just donating their money?
As the saying goes, time is money, thus by donating money Singaporeans are already donating time.

2. Do you think Singaporeans can slow down to appreciate the music, and why?
I personally haven't gotten around to mastering musical instruments yet, thus there is currently no need to appreciate any music as of yet.

3. What would you say to those who think that all it takes to win is just a pretty face?
If all it takes to win is just a pretty face, why the heck are you having this question and answer session in the first place?

4. If you could choose any song to describe your personality, what song would it be and why? "
二十二" by David Tao. That's because it reflects my yearning to return to my innocent and blissful childhood days.

5. Do you think beautiful women have an unfair advatantage in society today?
Beauty and fairness are subjective, thus there is no definite answer to this question.

6. What do you think of the claim that Singaporeans are much too afraid to lose? Why should we be afraid of something that will never happen?

7. We've seen more women take over as CEOs and presidents of companies but is it still tougher for women than men to reach the top and why?
In order to reach the top, a person needs physical strength and since scientific studies have proven that women are weaker than men in physical attributes, it is obviously tougher for women to reach the top.

8. How do you think this episode (NYP scandal) reflects on the moral and social values held by youths today?
What values?

9. If you were given a chance, what is the law you'd elect or amend in Singapore?
I do not find anything wrong with the rules that I set.

10. What do you think Singapore can do to nurture more world-class athletes?
What she can do to nurture world-class athletes is really quite unncessary since she has me.
